Self-Healing Tests

AI-powered locator

  • text เปลี่ยน (รวม translation, A/B test variation)
  • ใช้ time delay → flaky เมื่อ network ช้า

1. Multiple locator strategies

{
  primary: "#submit-btn",
  fallback: [
    "[data-testid='submit']",
    "button[type='submit']",
    "text=Submit"
  ],
  attributes: {
    role: "button",
    text: "Submit",
    position: { x: 450, y: 380 }
  }
}

2. Visual matching (computer vision)

3. AI-based reasoning

<button id="submit-btn" data-testid="submit">Submit</button>

Test pass ด้วย selector #submit-btn

หลัง dev เปลี่ยน HTML:

<button id="primary-action" data-testid="submit" class="btn-cta">
  Submit
</button>
  • selector #submit-btn → ไม่เจอ
  • self-healing ลอง [data-testid='submit'] → เจอ
  • log: "Healed: id changed, used data-testid"

<button data-testid="submit-form">Submit form</button>
<button data-testid="submit-comment">Submit comment</button>

CSS / structure
  • Avoid CSS chains: .container > .row > div:nth-child(2)
  • Avoid index-based selection: .first(), [2] พังเมื่อมี element เพิ่ม

  • เราใช้เวลา > 20% ของ engineering time แก้ flaky test?
  • เรามี budget vendor และยอม lock-in ได้?

Practice

v1:

<button id="add-cart-btn" class="btn">Add to cart</button>

v2 (refactor):

<button class="btn-primary" data-testid="add-to-cart-button">Add to cart</button>

v3 (rebrand):

<button class="cta cta-large" data-testid="add-to-cart-button" aria-label="Add to cart">
  <span>+ Add</span>
</button>

A. page.locator('#add-cart-btn') B. page.locator('button.btn') C. page.locator('[data-testid="add-to-cart-button"]') D. page.getByRole('button', { name: 'Add to cart' }) E. page.getByText('Add to cart')

Locator v1 v2 v3
A #add-cart-btn ✓ ✗ ✗ id หาย
B button.btn ✓ ✗ ✗ class
C [data-testid='...'] ✗ ✓ ✓ v1 ไม่มี testid
D getByRole + name ✓ ✓ ✓ aria-label / accessible name
E getByText('Add to cart') ✓ ✓ ✗ v3 text

หมายเหตุ: D ทำงานใน v3 เพราะมี aria-label="Add to cart" ทำให้ accessible name ยังคงเป็น "Add to cart" แม้ visible text จะเปลี่ยนเป็น "+ Add"
